Kiltearn Medical Centre

Kiltearn Medical Centre

https://www.kiltearnmedicalcentre.nhs.uk/

Kiltearn Medical Centre provides services for over 13,250 patients based in Church View Primary Care Centre in Nantwich Town. We are a research practice and we offer an extended hours service for patients that cannot attend the surgery in our normal working hours. We offer a high percentage of routine pre-bookable appointments which can be booked either verbally, face to face or via patient access (online services). If the patient’s problem is more urgent, we offer an appointment for the same day which is primarily triaged over the telephone by the on-call GP who will then decide whether the patient needs to be seen and when.

We have 6 GP partners and 2 Salaried GPs, 2 Nurse Practitioners, 4 Practice Nurses, 1 Assistant Practitioner, 1 Health Care Assistant and a Practice Pharmacist. We provide in-house Physiotherapy, Phlebotomy and dietician clinics, and Ultrasound and Audiology are also based on our floor. Our Nurse Practitioners are trained in prescribing under the Minor Ailments Scheme. We host student nurse placements and we have successfully employed one of the students, post qualification, who wanted to become a Practice Nurse. The GPs have special interests which enables us to offer additional services for Coils, Implants, Joint Injections and Minor Operations.

We have a strong and well-trained administrative team who have just participated in the Care Navigation accreditation, which allows them to signpost patients to the most appropriate service available. We are high achieving in signing up patients for online access and we have a Patient Experience Co-ordinator who can provide patients with IT support. The Patient Experience Co-ordinator is also available to discuss any concerns or queries regarding the patient’s experience of our practice.

We participate in the “mini-hub” scheme and offer a small number of weekly appointments to patients of other GP practices. We have a virtual Patient Participation Group that has 2 ambassadors and several other members who communicate with each other to support the practice. We have dedicated research facilities at Kiltearn that have been allowing Nantwich patients to access research for ten years.

An experienced team, we have strong links with CRN northwest coastal and Industry. The studies we recruit for come from both academic and commercial agencies. We have taken part in studies that have brought new drug therapies to disease areas at an early stage in the approval process. We pride ourselves on our recruitment and retention of study participants. We review studies as a team to ensure appropriateness and value before offering them to our patient population. We have a dedicated nurse team which we share with a neighbouring practice, and three GPs with research experience and GCP qualifications.

The NIHR is committed to investing in research in the UK and is a driver for practice involvement ensuring that interested patients can easily access studies if they wish to be involved. We also have links with neighbouring surgeries and recruit interested patients from outside of our own practice.

We are proud of our department and aligned staff.

Please see our practice website for more information about our current studies and our team.
