Cheshire Police appreciate that caring for people with dementia is challenging – and that planning ahead and keeping safe is really important. There is often a risk that people living with dementia can at some point start to ‘walk about’. While this may only be into the garden or street and returning a short time later, some people can get lost and go missing. This can lead to feelings of confusion, fear and vulnerability for individuals and their families, particularly at night time or during times of extreme weather.
The HERBERT PROTOCOL is a form that carers, family or friends of a vulnerable person can fill in.
It contains a list of information to help the police if the person goes missing, including:
Keeping a completed form saves the worry of trying to recall the information during the stressful time of someone going missing. It also saves time for the police, allowing the search to start sooner.
This new content will get incorporated into the A-Z Directory on the right….so the Directory therefore grows in content over time.
(Please note if you’re on a mobile device the A-Z Directory is listed at the bottom of this page).
