The Wingate Centre is an independent charity, dedicated to offering subsidised recreational activities and school residential holidays tailored for individuals with special educational needs and disabilities. Born out of the vision of parents in 1988, who witnessed firsthand the transformative power of gymnastics for their children with diverse disabilities, our charity continues to uplift the lives of individuals with SEND, as well as those facing various forms of disadvantage.
The Wingate Vision – It believes that everyone should have equal access to opportunities that improve their quality of life and wellbeing regardless of ability.
The Centre offers sport and recreational facilities for individuals with special education needs and disabilities through its 7,000 sqft gymnasium, recreation hall and sensory room. Classes include: Disability Fitness, Rebound Therapy, Dance, Drama & Movement, Action, Arts & Crafts, and All Stars Sports & Social Clubs. For more information – Sports & Recreation | The Wingate Centre
Holiday/residential accommodation at The Centre comprises 22 twin bedrooms, adapted bathrooms, and communal lounges & kitchenettes across 2 floors.
Additional community activities include gymnastics and mini play.
The Sunshine Cafe is open daily to the public (Monday to Friday, 9.30 AM to 1.30 PM).
Volunteering at The Wingate Centre is a rewarding way to support a cause you care about while meeting new people and making a difference. Whether you can give a few hours a week or help out at events now and then, we’d love to welcome you to the team. We have lots of volunteer opportunities available; please check our website.
