Shirley is a qualified Tai Chi and Medical Qi Gong instructor. She is a member of the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain and holds qualifications with the Tai Chi for Health Institute and the International Tai Chi Alliance.
She is a qualified Postural Stability Instructor (falls prevention/OTAGO/FAME) and an accredited teacher with the Keep Fit Association.
But her ‘day job’ is in mental health. She is a Dance Movement Psychotherapist with a Masters Degree from Canterbury Christchurch.

Something Seated aims to get people breathing deeply and moving their bodies but we’ll take a different approach each day, so sessions could be based on Qi Gong or Tai Chi, Bollywood or Ballroom Dance, Mindful Movement, or maybe Otago and FaME exercises and they will end with a guided relaxation.

Parkinson’s – Movement Therapy sessions for people with Parkinson’s and their carers. Mondays 11.00-12.00pm.
Feeling Good – Dance Movement sessions to strengthen the body and improve balance but mostly to lift the spirits. Mondays and Fridays 2.00-3.00pm.
Tai Chi & Qi Gong – Traditional forms for better physical and mental health. Beginners Class Tuesdays 11.00am-12.00.
Daily Qi Gong – Medical Qi Gong is a branch of traditional Chinese medicine. These exercise sessions are gentle on the body and benefit all the major organ systems as well as improving strength and mobility. Weekdays 12.30-1.00pm.
Something Seated – Seated Movement sessions with a different approach each day and a guided relaxation. Weekdays 3:15-3:45.
Dance Movement Therapy – An embodied alternative to talking therapy using creative process and relational movement. One to One sessions by appointment.
