We help people make informed choices about their alcohol and drug use, and to raise awareness of all the risks involved. This includes providing high quality and responsive support and assistance to parents and carers, schools, colleges, statutory services and other young person’s services and youth and community groups, enabling effective community treatment planning that reflects an inclusive approach to care co-ordination.
We can also give harm reduction advice, blood-borne virus testing and access to free naloxone, a drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
Our staff will be based in Crewe and Macclesfield, but the majority of our services will be delivered within the community at locations that are convenient and accessible for young people, including schools, youth/community setting and home visits. We will also be able to provide support to young people in the evenings and on weekends where needed.

If it’s getting harder to manage you may be able to get the extra care and support you need through social care. Social care is a very broad topic so here we introduce some fundamental aspects of social care, starting with this very short video :
Your first step should be to ask your local council’s social services department for a care needs assessment. They will identify where you might need extra support from social care and together you can agree on a care and support plan if appropriate.
In Cheshire East the First Point of Contact number for Social Services is 0300 123 5010. (See the box below for further details on Cheshire East).
In Shropshire the First Point of Contact number for Social Services is 0345 678 9044.

The Wingate Special Children’s Trust is an independent charity devoted to enriching the lives of children and young people with all levels of physical and learning disability or who are disadvantaged.
Established in 1988 by parents of children with a range of disabilities who had learned to appreciate the benefits of gymnastics for their children, the Trust has since evolved into a national centre attracting visitors from special and mainstream schools, voluntary organisations and support groups both locally and nationally.
Our site comprises a 23-bedroom specialised accommodation facility and a 7,000 square foot, fully-fitted gymnasium. This combination of facilities is unique and complementary as gymnastics is particularly helpful to people with disabilities as it helps develop core physical, cognitive and emotional skills and develops self-esteem through achievement, encouragement and recognition.

Cheshire Police appreciate that caring for people with dementia is challenging – and that planning ahead and keeping safe is really important. There is often a risk that people living with dementia can at some point start to ‘walk about’. While this may only be into the garden or street and returning a short time later, some people can get lost and go missing. This can lead to feelings of confusion, fear and vulnerability for individuals and their families, particularly at night time or during times of extreme weather.
The HERBERT PROTOCOL is a form that carers, family or friends of a vulnerable person can fill in.
It contains a list of information to help the police if the person goes missing, including:
Keeping a completed form saves the worry of trying to recall the information during the stressful time of someone going missing. It also saves time for the police, allowing the search to start sooner.
The Carers UK website is a fantastic, comprehensive resource with all the information you might need.

We provide information, advice and support to unpaid carers.
A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems.
Carers may even be juggling paid work with their unpaid caring responsibilities at home. The term carer should not be confused with a care worker, or care assistant, who receives payment for looking after someone.
Carers have different needs and Cheshire & Warrington Carers Trust can assist you in information regarding health issues, entitlements, mobility, grants for holidays, equipment and support. We also offer a wide range of activities, training and events for Carers throughout the year across Cheshire.

Facial palsy, sometimes known as facial paralysis, is a condition resulting from damage or absence or impairment of the facial nerve that supplies the muscles of facial function and expression, and affects blinking, closing the eye for sleep, eating and drinking, speech, smiling and frowning. Facial palsy can be the result of multiple causes: disease, injury, stroke, birth trauma, cancer, or neurological condition – to name but a few. Whatever the cause, the physical, emotional and psychological consequences of living with facial palsy are usually the same, although to varying degrees, and they can be equally devastating for the people affected and their families.
